The word on the street

So you can tell I live in a two year old world most of the time and I kinda like staying there too. Makes life much easier to deal with most days..LOL. If any of you watch Sesame Street you know there is the "word on the street" section it is like the word you listen for throughout the show and you learn the meaning of as well.
So here is the one that my girlfriend at work was throwing around today like she owned it...
Parsing -4. Computer Science- To analyze or separate (input, for example) into more easily processed components.
so yeah breaking down distro list falls into this... I guess! Way to just own it and throw it out there my dear friend...you had the rest of us pondering that one! :0)
